National Assembly Does Not Pass Amendments Being Proposed in Electoral Code

On October 29, under the Article 100 of the Constitution and Article 41 of the Constitutional Law the NA Rules of Procedure, the parliament convened an extraordinary sitting on the NA deputies’ initiative. The legislative package on Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Constitutional Law, on Amending the RA Constitutional Law on Referendum, on Making Addenda to the RA Code on Administrative Infringements and on Making Addendum to the RA Law on Defence authored by the RA NA deputies Naira Zohrabyan, Gevorg Petrosyan, Lena Nazaryan, Alen Simonyan, Vahe Enfiajyan and Edmon Marukyan was included in the agenda.

The Co-author of the legislative proposal the MPs Gevorg Petrosyan, Naira Zohrabyan, Tigran Irikhanyan, Gevorg Gorgisyan, Edmon Marukyan, Armen Ashotyan, Alen Simonyan, the RA NA Deputy Speakers Mikayel Melkumyan and Arpine Hovhannisyan delivered speeches on the legislative initiative, expressing in detail their viewpoints.

As a result of voting, the legislative package was not passed. 62 MPs voted for it and 2 were against it.

Covering the agenda, the parliament ended the work of the extraordinary sitting.
